Get Party-Ready: Why Makeup Holds the Key to Your Holiday Look

It's almost mid-November, and if you are anything like me, you are already getting party-ready by planning how to 'sleigh' (sorry, I couldn't help it) your holiday party look. It is so much fun when the stores roll out their holiday look-books and everything is so sparkly and bright! All just in time for all the festivities of the season to commence. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

You may call me bias, but planning my party makeup look is THE essential part of my holiday styling. I love when the new holiday makeup and beauty products are released, encouraging us to amp the glam, roll out the glitter, and put out a whole-lotta sparkle and shine! It leaves me feeling inspired to try out fun new looks, and put my best face forward as I attend parties and events with friends old and new.

It's no doubt that the holidays are full of wonder. It's the time for us to get togther, to have fun and enjoy the festivities of the season in good spirits. If you really want to embody the magic of the season as part of your style, I recommend creating a magical, memorable makeup look that will light up the room and have you turning heads wherever you go.

Your holiday party makeup is more than just a look. It's more than an accessory, or your outfit and shoes. Your makeup holds the key to your holiday look and when done right, it is the main attraction of your entire party ensemble....That's a bold statement, I know, but it's one I stand behind.

Since I was a teenager, I have stood by my own style rule that even if my outfit was unmemorable, when my makeup was fantastic, that would more than makeup for it (no pun intended!) Your makeup has the power to make or break your look. It has the ability to to elevate your style, and to influence the way people react and respond to you, all the while creating a vibe that is festive, fun and chic.

There have been times that I have toddled off to a last minute Christmas party, quite unprepared for the occassion with only a blah dress to wear...oh, I mean a 'black' dress to wear. Forgive me for that comment. While I do more than love a black dress, let's face it, for the purpose of celebrating the festivities of the season, it is a choice from the duller end of the spectrum. At your holiday celebration you want to look bright, dazzing, sparkly and all a-glow....not looking like you are in mourning of Halloween gone by!

I really feel that wearing radiant and festive makeup at a holiday event is also important because in the end, people will be looking at your face more than your outfit. I get it though, of course folks will give you the quick up and down glance (or slow depending on how mind-blown they are by your appearance as you arrive!) But when first looks are aside, while everyone sits together at a table for dinner, drinks at the bar, or mingling vis-a-vis at the party, it will be your face that people focus on the most. People will look to your face, into your eyes and maybe even at your lips (wink wink) while talking to you. They won't be staring down at your shoes or skirt, that would be odd! This is why I feel that your makeup look is the most important part of your party ensenble.

Even if your wardrobe options are reduced to the same-old same-old black dress you always wear, you can easily amp up the glam by allowing it to become the backdrop of your magical party face.
